The DC Universe Goes Online Worldwide In January

Sony Online Entertainment has been releasing screenshots in drips and drabs, but there's been no new information really on DC Universe Online until today when they announced a release date! The MMO has finally reached gold master status and will be landing on PlayStation 3s and PCs worldwide on January 11, 2011.
"Creating DC Universe Online has been a massive undertaking, and we're excited to be that much closer to launch," said Christopher Cao, Game Director of DCUO for Sony Online Entertainment. "We're grateful to our beta players for providing us invaluable feedback in these final stages that has enabled us to put the finishing touches on a fun and exciting experience when the game launches in January."
DC Universe Online will retail for $49.99 for the PC and $59.99 on PS3 in North America. It comes with a free 30-day membership, and after that, it'll run you $14.99 a month to keep playing. For PC gamers, DCUO will be included in SOE's all-in-one Station Access subscription. Also, SOE is planning to regularly update the game with new episodes featuring new characters and events. Of course, no idea what they're going to charge for new DLC, although since you're already paying a monthly fee, you'd think they could throw you a bone for free every now and then!

Now that the beta NDA is gone, I'll be the first to say the PC UI for the game is only marginally better that Final Fantasy online MMO that SOE isn't changing for because it was so bad.
The game content is great but gameplay feels heavily outdated and if you're used to MMOs, this doesn't play like one, especially on a PC.
Oh man this game is terrible. Had the beta for ps3... everything about this is broken. Can hardly read anything on the screen, gameplay is clunky, voice acting is terrible. ugh. :( So sad.
That's sad to hear. I was so interested in a DC Comics game until I got my hands on the demo at E3 and was completely underwhelmed. I didn't feel like it was completely broken, just that the combat was clunky and I didn't like the controls. But I was hoping they would've tweaked that in the meantime. Guess not...
Most all of the bad voice acting was removed in last patch on beta. Was just developers standing in for actors. [Boy could you tell]. I love playing the game. Keep reading how it's not an MMO because it's not a clone of X or Y. Beta really moving along with improving things but there's still a bit of room in the UI to improve but overall a really fun game.
Just wanted to add a non-negative point of view. Some of us enjoy the game/beta.
I WOULD enjoy the Beta, if it didn't crash every 15 minutes. I spend more time restarting my PS3 than I do playing the actual game. *sigh*
This is disheartening, the more i see about the game online the more i want to play it. especially that Mark Hamill plays the voice acting for the Joker. And that Harlequin was in the game ... but now with all the comments especially the ones that compare the interface to FFIV beta i don't think i will play it.
