Gallery: Tomb Raider
Well, whether it was Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix or Eidos, somebody released a handful of screenshots of the new Tomb Raider reboot. And while there's no hud in any of them, I actually believe they are genuine because you'll notice in the climbing one the LT and RT trigger prompts, and the graphics look just as pretty there, too. Those prompts also lead me to believe that the game will include some Quick-Time Events. I don't really mind them myself, although I know many do. I only mind them if they come out of nowhere and failing them sends you back to your last save because you die instantly. That's no fun!
But these images look awful purty, and I like the Earthy, casual Lara. This is earlier in her career, and obviously before the surgery. Also, I like that they're keeping the supernatural/fantastical elements. Although I'm kind of scared of what those giant bugs will look like... I almost don't want to know what's making those pods!
But I'm cautiously optimistic about the new Tomb Raider. I feel like Nathan Drake has kind of stolen her thunder, but we'll see if the new, younger, scrappier Lara can wrest it back!

Wow, poor Lara looks like she's been dragged through a construction site backwards during a monsoon!
I wonder... she has always been a strong lady but her depiction has always seemed to make her an obstacle to feminism in gaming. Could this new incarnation change that?
That's what it looks like to me Charlie! Gone are the DD cups and the flat skins.
I haven't played a single LC title since the original PSX, but damn this actually looks like a game I'd want to play!
