Gather Your Magic For Tactics

I'd make a joke about how I can't believe anyone still plays Magic: The Gathering, but I know for a fact I have some friends who still throw down from time to time. So they and some of you, no doubt may be interested to know that Sony Online Entertainment is just about ready to release Magic: The Gathering - Tactics on the PC this January 18. The free-to-play game will bring the trading cards to life for the first time in a 3D environment. You can play online against opponents around the world or take on the opening chapter of the story-mode campaign. That's how they'll get more money out of you the game's free, but you have to buy booster packs and additional campaign chapters.
At least there's no charge to play online! Oh, and there's also a port for the PlayStation 3 expected later in 2011. But if you're interested in Magic: The Gathering - Tactics, just head on over to the official website and bookmark it so you can download it on the 18th. Hey, it's free to download and play, so if you don't like it, all you've wasted is your time!

I'm actually really excited about this game, even though I don't really play Magic these days. I still follow Magic though, and I enjoy reading about the new cards and such. But indeed, Magic is going as strong as ever if not stronger. In a time when CCGs/TCGs are a dying breed, the first CCG ever proves it has what it takes to keep marching on.
So, what really has me intrigued about this game is that it is a turn-based tactics sort of game, and I love me some of that. Looking forward to giving it a spin.
