Get Your Shiny Legendary Beasts Starting Tomorrow, Celebi Next Month

I get it: you're busy, you live a dynamic, exciting life and don't have time to remember every flashy bit of whimsy. Especially around the holidays! Nintendo doesn't care about your busy schedule, which is why I'm here to remind you that starting tomorrow, GameStop stores in the US and Canada will start distributing the three legendary beast Pokemon to folks who come into their stores. First up is Raikou, which will run from January 3 - 9. Then you can grab Entei January 17-23, and lastly Suicune, January 31-February 6. All three will be shiny, each will have special moves that they wouldn't normally learn, cherish balls, blah blah blah. That's all very nice, but the real reason you want these guys is that by transferring all three to a copy of Pokemon Black or White (once the game releases March 6), you'll get a chance to catch Zoroark. Despite being a pretty big part of the game's promotion, Zoroark is otherwise unavailable in the game. While it seems like kind of a dick move to force you into GameStop three separate times in a month just to get a monster that looks like a doberman pinscher on RuPaul's Drag Race, no one ever said Pokemon was fair.

Now in far more exciting news (at least to me), apparently promo materials for the three beast giveaway have revealed plans to distribute Celebi at GameStop starting February 27th through March 7th. Celebi will unlock a special time travel event in Pokemon HeartGold / SoulSilver, and is also the only way to get Zorua in Black and White. I'll need to check my various pokedexes (pokedices?), but I think that Celebi may be the only one there's no way for me to get using the games I have now. Thanks guys: I finally catch them all just as you add 150-some new ones to that list. The Celebi event has yet to be officially announced, but keep an eye out for something official soon. In order to get any of these Pokemon, you'll need a Nintendo DS and a copy of Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold, or SoulSilver. For instructions, check out the first link below.

I was under the impression that any ONE of the three beasts could activate the Zoroark event, and that getting all three is not at all necessary. This matches with the Japanese promotion where they were given away with movie passes - it would have been ludicrous to expect children to pay to see a movie three times before having access to non-legendary, breedable Pokemon. :P

I should just move next to a GameStop, seriously. This is getting ridiculous.

I don't know why they don't make it a simple WiFi transfer like so many of their other hand outs. It helps us 23-year-old closet pokenerds look a little less pedo-bear in gamestops with our DSes. :O

Oh well! I'm still looking forward to three shiny dogs and the leaf pixie!!! :D

Age - Using only one would be far less dickish! The text on the US Pokemon site I linked to was kind of vague about it ("when you transfer them to your copy of Pokemon Black/White"), but I imagine if just using one worked in Japan, then it will probably work the same way here. At least they're free here, minus the cost of gas; I couldn't imagine having to buy three movie tickets.

Gosh - at the one near me, the signal stretches into the parking lot a bit, meaning I can stay somewhat anonymous. Still, sneaking pokemon downloads doesn't really make me feel a great deal of pride either.

Ugh, it's ridiculous how EVERYTHING is fucking Gamestop. We don't have Gamestop in my area of Canada, we have EBgames. Would it be so hard to offer this at both?

Ugh, this crap is exactly the reason I stopped playing Pokemon. And yet I'm compelled to grab these guys just in case I ever decide to start playing Pokemon again.
No! I... will... resist!
