Marvel vs Capcom 3 Unveils Akuma, Taskmaster

mvcakumatask.jpgThe characters keep coming for the over-the-top fighting action of Marvel vs Capcom 3, and this is the next-to-last reveal for the on-disc roster. So if the two names here don't match you're most-desireds, then you've still got one more chance to appease the gods of 2D fighting!

First up, we have Akuma on the Street Fighter series. Sometimes an end boss, sometimes a secret character, he's long been a staple of the series and life-or-death rival to mainstay Ryu. He shares the protagonist's love of fighting and becoming stronger, his real power comes from his willingness to engage his 'killing intent' and murder some folks with his fists.

For Marvel's contribution, we have a newcomer to the fighting genre: Taskmaster. First appearing in 1980 in the Avengers comic, he began as a young savant with an ability called "photographic reflexes." Essentially, this villain can copy any move he sees, making him a host of anachronistic abilities. Does this make him this series' Necrid/Seth? Well, the video below shows him making good use of a sword, shield, bow, handgun, and 'Spidey swing,' so I'd say it's a safe bet he's going to become a favorite for those gamers who like to have it every way at once. In more recent Marvel comics, it seemed Taskmaster had learned enough moves that almost no one could best him until Deadpool let loose his full spontaneous insanity.

Taskmaster actually makes me ridiculously happy. Glad to see Marvel recognizing the status some characters have gained from more recent arcs instead of just relying on the same classic heavy hitters that have been popular for ages.

i heard the other remaining two characters to be revealed are hsien-ko from darkstalkers and sentinel from x-men. too bad too. was looking foward to seeing dust. woulda been cool having a muslim fighter, but meh. maybe in MVC4

Interestingly, a lot of the fighters generated from that "false" list going around have proven to be true. Emma Frost is still looking like a possibility then :)

I'm skeptical of that list that's been floating around because it had Red Arremer (aka Firebrand from Demon's Crest) as a character, and yet in the Ghouls 'n Ghosts stage you see him flying in the background.

If you guys don't already know. I'm gonna spill the beans. The last two characters are Hsien-ko(pronounced Shen-koh)and Sentinel. The final battle is a battle in space where you fight Wesker and Dr.Doom simultaneously and they have been granted dat cosmic power by Galactus. They are silver colored and have a bit of power boost. Galactus sits in the background with his hand over earth. He is huge but it's really difficult if you have beaten onslaught or Abyss.

Kite, well we can already see the Dr. Doom part of that battle in the Akuma trailer.

Left something out.

The character that lands the last hit on Galactus gets their portrait on a comic book page and then it shows every characters ending.

Galactus can interrupt the battle with a snap back move. He flicks your character with one finger and they are switched out.

Hsien-ko plays just like her Darkstalker/Vampire Savior counterpart. They mixed her bomb special into her normal special. She can throw out a bomb and it could stun the opponent for a short time.
