Happy New Year everyone! And do you know what the best way to kick off the new year is? Well, let's try and keep this safe for work so cross off those first few items on your list. Was your answer new WiiWare and DSiWare games? Excellent! It wasn't? Well that's what I'm going to talk about anyway!

WiiWare gets an iPhone invasion with Sneezies and Ghost Mania. Sneezies is Chillingo's popular bubble popping game making its home console debut. Ghost Mania is a WiiWare adaptation of the iOS falling blocks puzzle game Spooky Spirits, with new Wii exclusive multiplayer modes. I actually quite enjoyed the game on my iPod Touch, and being able to play multiplayer and with a proper controller on the Wii makes it an attractive offer for puzzle fans. Also on WiiWare is a demo of Robox, a Metroidvania-style side-scroller that didn't get much attention when it released late last year. If any WiiWare game was in need of a demo, this is it.

DSi gamers are in for a real treat with Alt-Play: Jason Rohrer Anthology. The game collects three of Jason Rohrer's unique art games - Passage, Gravitation, and Between - and puts them on the DSi for only $2. It's amazing that Nintendo is supporting and indie developer like this, and the game is definitely a must-buy if you're an "artys-fartsy" type gamer (like me). If you're looking for a more traditional game on your DSi, there's also Word Searcher 2 and Music On: Drums to satisfy your word searching and percussion needs.
