Okay, Pokéfreaks, are you already excited for the release of Pokémon Black and Pokémon White on March 6? Well, Nintendo just released some information about some of the new features for the DS title that might just tide you over until the game's release.
First up, there's a little something called Triple Battles. With three-on-three battling at the same time, additional strategy must be employed because depending on your Pokémon's placement in the lineup, it will only be able to attack certain Pokémon in the opponent's trio. Whoever you put in the center can attack any of the opposing three, but the ones on the left and right can only attack the opponent in the center or on their side.
Another new feature in Pokémon Black and White is the C-Gear, which gives you an easier way to battle with others. You can quickly connect with friends to battle and/or trade, and it's even easier to trade Friend Codes, with just a tap of the stylus to add them to your list. So that's good! The C-Gear will also let you use local and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection while in the game, even to learn what players are nearby and where they are in the game!
There's also a new Wi-Fi Random Matchup which will pit you against opponents around the world randomly without the need to exchange Friend Codes. And this is where I would find myself hopelessly outclassed by some six-year-old in Japan!
I have to admit that I'm actually looking forward to the release of Pokémon Black and White, since it's been a while since I've played a true Pokémon title. My only concern is that it may fall by the wayside starting on March 27, because I can't imagine playing a regular DS title in my 3DS! (And I'm not going to wait for the inevitable remake Pokémon Gray? that comes out next year in 3D!)
