PSP2 To Be Announced January 27th?

It seems that PSP enthusiasts have cause for celebration, as MCV reports that Sony will be officially announcing the PSP2 at a press event in Toyko. Gamespot has confirmed through a Sony rep that there will indeed be an event on that date, but declined to divulge details as to whether it will entail the highly-anticipated reveal of the successor system. Don't expect too much fanfare, though; Sony seems to only be allowing a select few members of the Japanese press to cover the event/announcement. I for one look forward to learning more about the device, its capabilities -- especially those pretty, pretty visuals -- what kind of launch titles we can expect, and most importantly (to those of us with tight wallets), its price. Presumably they hope to steal some of the thunder from the 3DS promo events going on this month - this should be fun to watch. xD
