SingStar Gets Girls Aloud! (And There Was Much Rejoicing — By Me, Anyway!)

The other week, I heard that SingStar had recently added a whole bunch of songs to the SingStore, and I excitedly popped SingStar into my PS3 and was slightly disappointed to find out that there was only one song I got excited about. I mean, it was Sophie Ellis-Bextor's "Murder On The Dancefloor," so that was awesome enough to make up for the rest. But now I find out that they're adding 44 more tracks on Wednesday, January 19, and there's more than just one this time around!

I like the gameplay of Lips more, but SingStar has always been the go-to game for me when it comes to singing my favorite BritPop stars. I mean, the only Kylie Minogue you get with Lips is her cover of Santa Baby! But with SingStar, I've got Five, a bunch of Westlife songs, and more than a couple Kylies. So while it's cool that they've got "Pump Up The Jam" and "Bulletproof" coming, I'm way more excited about the exquisite cheesiness of S Club 7's "Reach" and the total fabulosity of four Girls Aloud songs! I'm definitely splurging on "Love Machine," "The Show," and "Biology," although I'm less enthusiastic about their cover of "I Think We're Alone Now," since I haven't heard it before. It might be great, though. I wish they'd included "Wild Horses," because I really like that song, but I don't think it was ever released as a single.

As always, SingStar songs are $1.49 each, although the 5-song Eddy Grant and Snow Patrol Song Packs are $6.99 apiece. And they have PlayStation Move/Dance Add-Ons for $.49 each to upgrade "Say A Little Prayer," "Dance Wiv Me," "It's My Life," "Beat Again," "Shake It," "Goodbye Mr A" and "Love Machine" with motion control. The whole list of 44 tunes is after that little button below if you're curious about the rest of 'em!

I love Girls Aloud so much (albeit mostly their last two albums) I didn't really have an idea there was any rhythm game that would bother getting or allowing international music rights in the US. Granted I've mostly skimmed Apple apps.

It's such a bummer that they're all more or less going for solo careers so far as I know, but Nicola's sounds fairly amazing/indie. (There's actual fact to support that she'd be working with Metronymy, but it's the unsubstantiated Dragonette that gets me excited.)

Anyway, Wild Horses was apparently not a real single. and their cover of I Think We're Alone Now isn't especially brilliant or anything, but it's still okay in my opinion.

I've always wondered if all their TV appearances are so weird though. Untouchable was gorgeous but they weren't exactly the focus since I suppose with a show "Dancing on Ice" you'd expect some manic people actually dancing and mugging on ice. Or that one vendetta ending duet/medley they did with Kaiser Chiefs on a holiday special series they had? (That last one was pretty awesome though.)

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
