Team Fortress 2 Beta Update
I'm not entirely sure how many Team Fortress 2 fans we have here, but for those of you who own the game on the STEAM platform on PC rather than console have a really stellar option to check out on the game if you have not heard about it yet. Open up STEAM and check out the Team Fortress 2 Beta which allows players to test potential upcoming changes to the game including map, weapon balance and allows the player to send Valve feedback in the STEAM user forums. Today there was a small update that changed how much health was given to players across the board. If you are a fan of the game do be sure to check this out and try the changes to well known maps like Granary, and test out the upcoming 5 control point version of the map Gorge. You can find the Beta in your "Library" section right below the game itself as a downloadable option! I for one am excited to see a slight buff in health across the board to help slow down the gameplay which has gotten a bit too fast paced from how the game originated.








Oh man, Valve, do not start messing with player health. That is so not needed. We really just need the existing weapons to be balanced, and get some serious bug fixing going on. I really hate the idea of messing with HP values, especially since it's tantamount to saying that some weapons are just completely broken (Equalizer and Brass Beast, I'm looking at you). This coming from a guy who plays a ton of Medic, Soldier, and Heavy. Honestly, nerf the equalizer, the Dead Ringer (minor), shortstop (range is the issue more than anything), and a couple other things and then bugfix. I don't think players die too easily. Then again, although I'm no pro, I generally can jump on random pub and end up top of the scoreboard while not really playing that seriously.
I agree that some of the existing weapons are really in dire need of balance with the weapons. I'm working on a series that analyzes some of the big trouble makers actually!
I play a ton of Spy, I have about 400 hours in the class and I use the Invisibility Watch, I think the Dead Ringer needs to be nerfed as well. I miss when playing spy "meant something" haha.
Dear Ringer is for people that can't play Spy. About the only thing I have less respect for in the game than DR Spies is FaN Scouts.
And yeah, the health values do NOT need to be tweaked. The game's balance is totally dependent on those particular health levels, changing that would require re-balancing the entire game.
That said, who the hell plays TF2 on console? Poor bastards...
Oh Shin Gallon, I like you already for your DR analysis and unappreciation for the force a nature.
The thing is that the health is increase as a percentage across the board, same percentage. This is to help survivability from new, overly powered weapons like say, I dunno, the Direct Hit, so that kills are not so instant for when they are not deserved to be so instant. I think it is a smart idea in concept, but how it plays out? Let's see! Load up that beta and experiment with bots!
This seems really unnecessary as the game has survived this long without needing to tweak the health values at all. I already feel a noticeable difference when players use loadouts that buff health, 150 hp scoots in particular.
Not to mention, it would severely underpower the sniper. Taking 2 quickscopes to kill unbuffed scouts and medics would be ridiculous. You can say goodbye to seeing snipers in competitive play unless they buff the rifle damage.
wow!!! Team Fortress 2 Bets should be awesome. I won't do essay writing and spend a night playing it.
