Contest: Win Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 (PS3) With Your Nostalgia

Bionic commando rearmed 2 contest.png

Earlier today we posted our review of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, and if that gave you an itch to play the game (much like Nathan Spencer's new mustache) then you might want to keep reading this post. We've got a copy of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 to give away to one lucky reader so they can swing with Spencer (and his glorious mustache) late into the night. And since we've given away Xbox 360 and PC games recently, we thought it might be nice to give away a PS3 copy of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2.

How do you win such a fabulous treat? Simply post a comment on this post naming your favorite retro game you would like to see get the rearmed treatment. Though it makes me feel incredibly old, for purposes of this contest "retro" can mean any system up through the N64/PS1/Saturn generation. Sorry, I'm not willing to admit the Dreamcast as a "retro" console yet. And as with any of our contests, be sure to use your preferred email address when commenting, since that's how we contact you for fabulous prizes. Good luck to everyone who enters. Now get those nostalgia juices flowing, there's a free game at stake.

I would love to see a Streets of Rage reboot, 2-D side-scrolling and all! My brother and I used to play all three games in the series over and over again. Just the thought of three or four player online co-op Streets of Rage would be amazing!

Battletoads for sure. That game was impossible beyond belief and to see it be remade in HD with it's difficulty still there, that would make me and my friends pull our hair out in joy and hilarious frustration.

What about PC games? If we include those, I want an update to Star Wars: TIE Fighter. With the exception of Freespace 1&2, no space sim is more beloved to me than TIE Fighter. A new version of that would simply fantastic.

If we are sticking only to consoles, I nominate Keith Courage in Alpha Zones. This fantastic side scrolling action game by Hudson Soft for the TurboGrafx-16 still sticks with me, years after its release. Colorful graphics, two different modes (creatively titled overworld and underworld), and hints of a great story. Though I don't remember how much was in the actual game and how much was in the accompanying comic. Well worth a revisit.

The Streets of Rage series are games definitely worthy of a steller remake. However, considering how graphically dated it is, Panzer Dragoon for the Sega Saturn needs a proper remake.

The entire series is worthy of an HD remake, but the first game was just not graphically up to par and needs to shine.

I would have to say Castlevania III : Dracula's Curse. Many fond memories of rushing home from second grade to play the game, before my mom would come home from work and make me study. I almost failed Spelling because of it.

Recent Castlevanias, the "3D" ones, have certainly lacked what this game bought to the table.

p.s. Thanks for paying a little bit more attention to your Sony loving fan base. It hasn't gone unnoticed.

I'd have to say Final Fantasy 6. It was not only the best JRPG of the SNES/Genisis years, it's also the only game not to be remade/released on every console known to humankind ( I'm looking at you FF IV). This was the game that got me started on JRPG's. I'd settle for a New Super Mario Bros. style remake.

Anticipation on the nes. I have no idea why my sister loves this crappy game, but every now and then the music from the game gets stuck in my head.

The PS1 game I would love to see Monster Rancher 2 with the HD treatment. I loved convincing my straight friend play the game with me in order to see what the prettiest cel-shaded plant monster I could create by crossing them and using CDs to generate new ones! It would benefit from an HD remake by allowing the monsters to be yet more adorable and there would be tremendous cross-marketing potential! Cue Sackboy monster battling it out in cel-shaded glory. What could be cuter?

Shining Force 1-3.
Great simplistic turn-based strategy games.

The U.S. and European versions of Shining Force III only contained the first of three scenarios, so it'd be nice to finally experience them all.

I really wish Atlus would pick up their Ogre Battle N64 series again! I miss all the classes, pretty animations, and the depth that their stories all had. Not to mention all the different possible endings they had based on your in-game choices. Atlus really knew how to show a grade-school kid some serious video game drama! They really had a neat system for changing classes and leveling wasn't some huge chore either. :P

Man, the name of the game is completely escaping me right now... You're playing as an angel, I believe, and helping to get rid of all the bad junk in the world (in a side-scrolling action/adventure/platformer style). As you progress, you unlock more of the overworld map and help restore it to its original splendor. Pretty sure it was for the NES. I LOVED that game as a kid, and think it would be pretty cool to see revamped.

It's all about Sinistar for me. Fell in love with the game as a kid and on the 2 occasions I've come across it after the 80's I dropped whatever it was I was doing to play it. Not sure why I find it so appealing, but there was just something different about it in the arcade.

Flashback. Flashback! Seriously, Flashback. It was one of those games that nobody played, but it was flipping amazing. It had that Prince of Persia/Oddworld sidescrolling thing going on, which I really appreciate. It had fantastic stylish graphics for its time, A quick up-rez and they'd look great even by today's standards. That makes me consider Beyond Oasis, but no! Flashback it must be. Another world, too. Excellent games. Poor, poor Delphine Studios...
Where have you gone, leaving me alone in this sea of samey shooters and physics platformers? Alas, gone the way of Clover. Your original, polished games proved to be just too difficult to market to a wide audience. Not enough tits, no doubt. I shed a tear for thee, Delphine Studios...

Actraiser on the SNES needs a remake. Back then, it blew me away how great the music on it was as you hacked and platformed around dungeons, along with the silly populous type strategy game in between the battles. For a 16 bit game, the graphics was impressive to look at (for an SNES). I would love to see it redone with today's graphics engines. Mmmm full on 3D animation with God of War type melee maybe?

I would love to see a new Pu.Li.Ru.La for a modern console, retail or downloadable. The original was certainly a bit strange but I think that would still be its main appeal in a new version.

Super Mario Bros 2 (USA version) has a special place in my heart.

I want a new Double Dragon game! But I want it to be like the first one on the NES, in all its side scroll-y, beat-em-up goodness. And I want a lot of the original music included, just remixed and updated. Yeah!

That or, like Lance said, I'd take Battletoads. That game was so hard, but fun! Lots of good memories staying up all night at my best friend's house trying to beat it, only to get to the last level with only like one or two guys left. Gah!

Not sure if this contest is still open, but I'll throw my hat into the ring.

I would like to see a remake of Ghosts N' Goblins. I was looking around on the PSN to see if there was one, but I had no luck. I want an insanely hard game to play! Why can't I get that without buying a PSP?!

So, it's been over a month. Do we ever get to find out who won the contest?...

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
