Regular readers might recall how at the beginning of every month, I would alert you to the new DLC coming each week for Lips. Originally there were press releases, but then I had to start digging around on forums to find the lists. But this is the first month where there doesn't really seem to be any actual content to download. The first two weeks of February brought us nothing. Then February 18 brought us this:
"You Might Think" and "Just What I Needed" by the Cars
"Hot N Cold," "Waking Up In Vegas" and "Thinking of You" by Katy Perry
"Right Now (Na Na Na)" by Akon
The Katy Perry tunes are also available as a song pack at a slight discount, and there's also a Cars song pack that includes those two plus "Drive." I guess the sight of Katy Perry should've been seen as an indication that they're scraping the bottom of the barrel for DLC and would soon run out.
I kid, I kid. But seriously, it's a little frightening to see the regular weekly Lips updates disappear like this. Because there's no new DLC today, which leaves me skeptical that we'll get much for March. I'd like to think that it's because they're gearing up to release a new Lips game, complete with Kinect support for dancing, but then you'd figure they'd want to amp up the DLC with some awesome songs so they could revive interest in the franchise. No, it would seem to me that Lips is on its way out. Is it any wonder that I've been downloading and singing in Rock Band more lately? I've reached out to a Microsoft contact regarding this issue, and haven't heard back, but I'll keep trying to find out what's up, and I'll keep you appraised.
