Publisher Deep Silver made a big splash with their latest trailer for Dead Island, but zombies aren't the only thing the publisher has planned. Today developer Piranha Bytes and publisher Deep Silver are ready to announce Risen 2: Dark Waters, sequel to last year's PC and Xbox 360 RPG Risen.
Risen 2: Dark Waters will take place several years after the events of the first game, in a world where monstrous sea creatures ravage passing ships. As a member of the Inquisition, the hero must seek out a band of pirates who are rumored to know the source of the sea monster threat. All the game needs is a pet monkey-bird obsessed with minga melons, and we're in business.
As is par for the course in modern RPGs, player choices will play a big part in how the story of Risen 2 develops, to the point that the game boasts "the most immersive RPG game world so far." A tall order for a sequel to a game most people overlooked. Then again, Two Worlds II managed to surprise with a brilliantly crafted world after a rocky first game. At the very least, there are far too few pirate RPGs so I'm looking forward to hearing more about RIsen 2 in the coming weeks.
Risen 2: Dark Waters is currently in development for PC and "consoles," though no specific consoles were given.
