Video: Wootini's Video Podcast #8
Well, Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 is finally out. So how do I like the highly-anticipated game? Let's just say I like it... up to a point. This week's vidcast is a discussion about my love/hate relationship with certain games, specifically where multiplayer is concerned. What am I going to do when Pokémon comes out in a few weeks and I get my ass kicked by eight-year-olds? The shame...

I feel like I'm in the same boat as you ability-wise, but have different preferences regarding co-op vs. competitive play. If I suck at a game and I play co-operatively, I feel bad about letting my team down. But if I suck at a game and play competitively, at least I only let myself down!
I agree with (I think) was your ultimate point. Games are games. Sure, it's nice to get better at them, but we shouldn't dedicate ourselves to them meticulously like school or work or relationships.
Dude Wootini me too.... me too.
I love games, I'm decent at them but far from good, but I really don't care about winning. I've always enjoyed the visuals, stories and puzzles more than winning. Thats why over the years my favorite genres have been ones that are predominately single player (3D platform, action, RPGs, and shumps). Games that focus more on the gameplay than winning.
Suffice to say I wasn't thrilled with MvC3. I don't feel it lives up to it's predecessor, and the (over) simplified battle system in the game hurts it tremendously. It's not as deep or as fun as MvC2 was, and I get the feeling that in 5 years, I'll STILL be playing MvC2 from time to time while MvC3 will have never even entered my game library.
