Honestly, when I first saw this news I completely passed it over. A new Bloodrayne game? I can't remember the last time I heard a positive thing said about that series, and I don't just mean the Uwe Boll movies. But then I noticed something that caught my eye: this new game is being developed by WayForward. Suddenly, I can't wait for this game.
For those who don't recognize the developer by name, WayForward is the studio responsible for 2D side-scrollers like A Boy and His Blob on Wii, Batman: Brave and the Bold on Wii and DS, and Contra 4 on DS. Oh yeah, and they also made the fabulous Shantae and Shantae: Risky's Revenge. These folks know their way around quality side-scrollers.
Following in what the company knows best, Bloodrayne Betrayal will be a 2D action game when it releases on XBLA and PSN this summer. Co-op seems likely, seeing as publisher Majesco hints that Rayne will team up with a "mysterious new friend." I'm pretty much always in the mood for a good 2D brawler, and WayForward has a proven track record in the genre, so my expectations have shot up from zero to... Well, it is still Bloodrayne. Let's just say expectations shot up from zero to a number higher than zero.
