Nintendo of America hasn't exactly been neglectful in its duties of serving up delicious retro titles via the Wii's Virtual Console, but they also haven't been keeping the pace going like they used to. The last big wave of titles was in November, and a few releases every month have kept our digital collections growing a few at a time.
But if your collection is need a big boost of RPG-nostalgic goodness, the answer lies far in the East. Nintendo has announced that April's releases for the Japanese Virtual Console will include Chrono Trigger, as well as Mega Man X and King of the Monsters 2.
Jealous, yet? This isn't the first time Japan has gotten a huge hit on their VC and left other territories out of the download loop - other Square-Enix titles have appeared exclusively in Japan or only released after a huge delay. In just this year, Japanese downloaders have gained access to Final Fantasy V and VI, which may indicate Square is loosening their typically iron grip on their back catalog.
Announced titles for the NA and PAL regions don't include anything by Square-Enix, so the only folks who'll know for sure whether Chrono Trigger will grace our Wiis are those with access to an Epoch time machine! Any takers?
