If you're one of our constant readers, you'll already know that Capcom is bringing Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica to the PS3 and 360, and that Resident Evil: The Mercenaries and Resident Evil: Revelations are both coming to the 3DS in the near future. Now they've confirmed the development of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City in collaboration between Capcom and Vancouver's Slant 6 Games, which is known for its entries in the SOCOM series.
Operation Raccoon City is a team-based shooter in which players take control of members of the Umbrella Corporation's Security Services, and takes place in the Resident Evil timeline concurrently with RE2 and RE3. In fact, it promises a "retelling" of key moments from both titles. Players will be charged with mopping up the Umbrella Corporation's mess and destroying incriminating evidence - including survivors (Leon S. Kennedy is quoted as being on the hit list) - all while battling classic Resident Evil zombies and monsters, as well as American military forces sent in to thwart your activities.
As you might expect given the nature of the game and it's developers' pedigrees, in addition to the main campaign, Operation Raccoon City will offer online multiplayer for those who want to frag both the living and the undead.
