UPDATE: According to Capcom-Unity, these two characters are still set to make an appearance in the US. We'll enjoy using them, but my Jill will be pouring out a bottle of T-virus for those still suffering in Japan.

Fighting fans who've been waiting to get their hands on a new set of characters for the ever-popular Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be in for a shock today, as a message on the game's official site has noted that the expected release of Jill Valentine & Shuma-Goroth won't be tomorrow, as promised. The culprit in this case is the 8.6-level earthquake that hit Japan last week, leaving many critical buildings in shambles and rescue workers rushing to find survivors.
The main concern for companies headquartered in Japan but unaffected directly by the natural disaster is limited electricity: with many power plants destroyed, the national government is instituting rolling blackouts to ration out the available wattage - even shutting down the iconic bright lights of Tokyo at times. No corporation at this moment would be willing to take more power than is absolutely necessary - like, for example, to run an MMO or serve a particular download to millions of gamers. Square-Enix has also done their part by putting the online Final Fantasy titles on hiatus for this week.
For gamers in the West, there's still a chance the characters will be distributed in a timely fashion by Capcom USA, but so far no word has come from the English-speaking side of things. We'll keep gamers posted as to whether we'll be dancing and waving our DLC or quietly waiting in solidarity with Japan.
