Revealed today via Major Nelson Microsoft is looking for Xbox 360 owners to preview a new disc format, which will be part of a future system update:
We are conducting an open call for US based participants* for a public preview to help us prepare for an updated Xbox 360 disc format. This is an important update as we continually strive to improve our products and we could not do so without the help of our great Xbox community.
Notice the asterisk? To participate you must be a US resident due to disc distribution limitations, own a 360 obviously, and you must also have an Xbox Live Membership. The announcement notes that Gold Membership owners will be given priority.
They are looking for "multiple thousands of participants" so you've got as decent a shot as anyone else if you sign up, though you should probably do so as soon as possible before all the slots are filled. You'll take a survey and if you fit the bill you'll be given the chance to try out the new format.
You can sign up for the preview and take the survey here though you'll need to make a Microsoft Connect account first, if you don't already have one.
And if you do happen to get chosen, you'll also receive a free copy of Halo: Reach
Because gaygamer.net has so many FPS/Halo fans... along with "other possible rewards."
