Activision and Treyarch revealed today that they've lined up a heck of a cast for Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation's zombie level, Call of the Dead. Escalation is the second content pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops, and features four all-new multiplayer maps as well as the Call of the Dead zombie level.
"This is Treyarch's tribute to the legendary George Romero, who truly defined the zombie genre and whose incredible work has been such an inspiration to our team," says Dave Anthony, Call of Duty: Black Ops Director. "It was an absolute honor to work with such an amazing and talented cast whose passion and energy brought their characters instantly to life. Fans are going to love this."
In hopes of creating a genre-defining zombie experience, they went straight to what many zombie aficionados might consider the source, which is George A. Romero himself. The director of Night, Dawn and Day of the Dead (among others, but those are the really good ones, so lets stop there) inspired the storyline, and will appear as himself in the Call of the Dead level! In addition, the cast will include Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddy Kruger himself, Robert Englund, Michael Rooker (most recently from The Walking Dead, but I'll always remember him as Henry from Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer) and Danny Trejo, who shows up in just about everything. So why not a videogame?
Call of Duty: Black Ops' Escalation pack will launch first on Xbox LIVE on May 3 (and presumably shortly thereafter for the PlayStation 3 if Sony's gotten things up and running again by then). And while it sounds like it could be fun to play, I'm not about to buy Call of Duty just to do it. Maybe one of my friends who has it could download the pack and invite me over? Hint, hint!
