Okay, this has to be one of the more unusual press releases I've seen recently. Konami has partnered with musterbrand LLC to create a branded clothing line for men based on the PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. I know, right?
"Our partnership will give fans the opportunity to 'suit up' for one of the most successful video game franchises of all time, specifically for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker," said Careen Yapp, Vice President of Acquisitions and Franchise Development of Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. "The mass success and support for our latest Metal Gear Solid hit has allowed us to expand beyond what we've done in the past with the series, and we are very much looking forward to offering this new line to a global community of fans."
And while my first thoughts were of cheesy T-shirts, I then moved on to camouflage jackets, but I have to say that the images here aren't too bad. I would actually wear that long-sleeved shirt I used as the main art. Of course, who knows what the pricing will be like. I'm guessing since it's all pretty limited edition, it'll be up there. The collection will be available for purchase online in the US and Canada starting on April 11. The line will include coats, sweatshirts, pants, T-shirts and hats all inspired by clothing worn by the characters in the game. They're also promising updates with new items releasing quarterly and surrounding "certain special events throughout the year." Like maybe to promote the release of a new Metal Gear game?
