Blizzard Entertainment has announced that tickets for the sixth BlizzCon gaming convention will be going on sale starting at the end of May. The tickets will be going on sale in two batches, the first on Saturday, May 21, and the second on Wednesday, May 25. In addition, there will be a limited number of tickets to an exclusive pre-BlizzCon dinner to benefit Children's Hospital of Orange County that will go on sale on Saturday, May 28.
BlizzCon is an annual celebration of the Warcraft/Diablo/StarCraft communities, and will be taking over the Anaheim Convention Center on October 21 and 22. There's also panels, activities, tournaments and hands-on playtime with current and upcoming Blizzard Entertainment games. If you can't make it to the actual event, you can always purchase a BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, which grants you access to streaming live coverage of the event online and also on DIRECTV in the US.
"We love being able to meet directly with our players, and since BlizzCon is one of the rare opportunities we get to do that, we always pack as much information and entertainment as we can into the show," said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "This year will be no different -- whether you're with us in Anaheim or joining from home, be prepared for two days of Blizzard gaming and good times with the most passionate community in the world."
Tickets are $175 USD each, and can be purchased directly from the official website at www.blizzcon.com on 5/21 starting at 10am Pacific time and then on 5/25 starting at 7pm Pacific time. The BlizzCon Benefit Dinner tickets will run you $500 USD, and go on sale 5/28 starting at 10am Pacific time. The charity dinner will be held on the evening of Thursday, October 20, and will give you the opportunity to rub elbows with Blizzard developers and employees before the show. There are only 200 tickets available for the dinner, though, so don't think too long about it!
The BlizzCon Virtual Tickets are $39.99 USD, and will give you access to a multichannel Internet stream and Pay-per-view on DIRECTV in the US. DIRECTV customers who order the televised event will receive access to the internet streams at no additional charge. And if you purchase the Virtual Ticket, you'll also get a virtual goodie bag of this year's exclusive BlizzCon World of Warcraft and StarCraft II in-game items (details of which will be revealed at a later date)!
Oh, and if you want to cheap out, limited streaming coverage of the opening ceremony and certain tournaments will be made available online for free.
BlizzCon tickets have a tendency to sell out quickly, so make sure you mark these dates on your calendar!
