To celebrate nine years of adventuring in Vana'diel, Square Enix announced today that they will be releasing the Final Fantasy XI Ultimate Collection Abyssea Edition on May 16. The MMORPG will be released for download in North America, Japan and Europe for Windows-based PCs from select digital distributors.
The Ultimate Collection Abyssea Edition will include all four expansion packs for FFXI, plus all the add-on scenarios (A Crystalline Prophecy - Ode of Life Bestowing, A Moogle Kupo d'Etat - Evil in Small Doses and A Shantotto Ascension - The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born) They're also throwing in the add-on battle areas introduced in 2010's Vision of Abyssea, Scars of Abyssea and Heroes of Abyssea.
Plus, as a added little bonus, the collection will include the Destrier Beret, an in-game item loaded with bonuses to help newbies get started in Vana'diel. Of course, if you've already purchased some of this content, it may not seem like there's much of a draw, but the Ultimate Collection only costs $19.99, which seems like kind of a steal. (Of course, being an MMORPG, there's still that monthly charge...)
