Video: Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version Coming In May
Well here's an unexpected surprise, it looks like we'll all be able to get our hands on Mega Man Legends 3 next month on the 3DS. Capcom has just revealed that when the 3DS eShop launches, which is scheduled for some time next month, Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version will be among the digital launch titles.
So what exactly does "Prototype Version" mean? Well, it's actually a fairly literal title, since the digital release will be an unfinished prototype of the game. It will also introduce new character Barret, as a playable character. There will be a set of core missions in the prototype, and once they're completed players will be able to access unfinished areas of the game and mess around with a debug menu to try various special moves and abilities.
Since fan input has been such a big part of Mega Man Legends 3's developement, Capcom is encouraging players to hop on the devroom forums and discuss their experiences with the Prototype Version after they're done playing. Basically, it sounds like Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version is a massive beta test, or a focus group if you're the more cynical type.
No word on a price for the Prototype Version, but since it's basically a source for fan feedback on an unfinished game, I'm hoping it will be a free download. In any case, the 3DS eShop still doesn't have a launch date, but is supposed to land during the month of May, so expect more info to come in the next few weeks.

The graphics look pretty nice! Thanks for the video!
Excitement! Every snippet of this game makes me go a little crazy. I wonder why I didn't join the Devroom sooner!
I don't care for Megaman at all, but the eShop seriously needed something to kick it off well [that aren't just old games!], and this is pretty much it.
It also says a lot for whatever the memory cap on 3DS d/l content is for a third party to swoop in so swiftly [even if it is Capcom].
Yes. A million times yes.
