Video: Mortal Kombat Includes Baby Kratos, Among Others
We're not the hugest fans of Mortal Kombat here--thus the lack of preview coverage compared to some more colorful fighting games--but sometimes even the most outlandish gorefest can manage to surprise us.
What you see above is a video for what the the Western fighting world knows as 'Babalities,' whereby the winning player essentially transforms their defeated foe into a cute, toddler version of themselves. The baby kombatant then usually attempts one of their deadly moves, fails in a hilarious way, and cries as a way of ending the match.
Their inclusion in the now-released Mortal Kombat is a bit of a surprise (although, hopefully, no one hanging out on the internet is afraid of spoilers for a 2D fighter). After all, the 2011 iteration of the game was expected to cut out all the unnecessary '-alities' that had started to clutter the movelist, such as Animalities and Friendships.
Of particular note is baby Kratos ripping the head off of a medusa doll, and the ninja Smoke seems to be offering up something of a reference to Portal. Even if you don't plan to get into this year's most violent game, it's still a cute internet video--and this one doesn't involve kittens!

Aww...
I can't wait to get my hand on this game! Btw, I'm pretty sure the "Portal" reference as you call it, is with Noob Saibot and not Smoke.
Thanks, lunae_moth! They look so similar to me, but then I'm someone who's embarrassed I can tell all the Shotos apart in SF3!
