Xbox LIVE Sets World Record

In the interest of following up on my previous article that urged everyone with a copy of Kinect Sports to fire it up and join in on the world record attempt to set the largest simultaneous 100 meter sprint, I am happy to report that a new Guinness World Record has been set!
And in the interest of full disclosure, I tried desperately to remember to join in, but it slipped my mind and I only remembered about ten minutes after the attempt was scheduled to be made. I thought about trying anyway, but figured it wouldn't work and didn't bother. So without me, they only had 10,539 participants although that's still pretty good!
"We're thrilled to hold a Guinness World Record title for the largest online 100 meter sprint! Breaking a Guinness World Record is such a massive milestone and we're pleased that we had the chance to do this in partnership with the Xbox LIVE community, following our record breaking launch of Kinect, which was named the Fastest Selling Consumer Electronics Device by Guinness as well."
The record will be considered for inclusion in the next Gamers Edition of the Guinness book, although why they have to think about it, I have no idea. Of course, I don't suppose it's hard to set a world record for something that probably has never been attempted before... Still, bravo to anyone who did remember to take place! (You know, the memory's the first thing to go as you get old!)
