Not sure why it took Starz Digital Media so long to come out with this tie-in to their series, but Camelot: The Game is headed for Facebook. I've never really gotten into the whole social media game milieu, and unfortunately, Camelot is certainly not going to be the series that draws me in. I gave it a fair shake, but I found it dull and of course once Game of Thrones started, there was nothing that was going to hold a candle to that! (Sorry, but hot guys and Eva Green wasn't quite enough...) Still, the free-to-play Camelot: The Game will let you build your own hamlet and contribute to the glory of Camelot by completing various quests and building their village.
"Fans of social gaming, the 'Camelot' original series, and the successful 'Spartacus' Facebook game, are sure to love 'Camelot: The Game," said Marc DeBevoise, senior vice president, digital media, business development and strategy for Starz Media. "The action, adventure, and challenge of this game is unmatched in the marketplace today and is a beautiful complement and extension of the Starz Original series."
It's your typical strategy game with turn-based battles, resource management, and recruiting of friends to help you out. (Of course there is it's a Facebook game, after all!) And while Camelot: The Game is free to play, there are naturally upgrades you can purchase with your Facebook Credits. The game has just entered its beta phase, but if you register on Facebook and enter the password "Merlin," you can start playing the preview now.
