I know a new Mortal Kombat game just came out, but what if you want to relive the old-school games in the series? Well, you'd have to go dig your old consoles out of the closet and hook them up to a TV that you hope isn't too advanced for the old tech. But now Warner Bros. has got you covered with the release of the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection. Due out in late summer 2011 for the PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade and Windows PC, the "Kollection" will include the original trilogy: Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Mortal Kombat 3.
"We are very excited to finally have the first three Mortal Kombat games available in one download package for long-time and new fans to play," said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. "With the release of our 2011 Mortal Kombat, and its return to 2D game play, players have been asking for these classic titles and we are happy to deliver them."
So go all old-school on your friends and play through the original games in their original arcade state, including all the characters, fatalities and babalities. But of course, being all modern and such, the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection will include online play, leaderboards, Achievements and Trophies! This "arcade-perfect port" will run you $9.99 on the PSN or 800 MP on Xbox LIVE. Or as they say in the press release, 40 quarters!
