New Star Trek Game Coming In 2012

At next week's E3 (seriously? It's only a couple of days away already?) Paramount Studios and Digital Extremes (of Bioshock fame) will be debuting a new Star Trek title to be set in the J.J. Abrams alternative-ish timeline. According to Forbes:
The action game features an original storyline by BAFTA award winner and God of War writer, Marianne Krawczyk, in collaboration with the writers/producers of the new Star Trek films, Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Set after the events of the 2009 film, Kirk and Spock must work together to stop a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy.
Sounds like an impressive pedigree to me...but what's this legendary enemy? The big original series villains were the Klingons and Romulans, but neither was "bent on conquering the galaxy." Since the new Abrams Trek movie is due out in June of 2012, would this game even feature either of those races anyway, as the chances of either or both featuring heavily in the next story is pretty high?
Speculation aside, the game is scheduled to release around the same time as the new movie. Combine that with the talent being sourced out for this game and that adds up to an encouraging sign that Paramount may be taking seriously how lucrative the franchise can be if they put the right money and talent in to it. According to Paramount's press release (which you can find here), Star Trek will feature co-op and a "wide variety of gameplay." More details should come in the next few days.

You want a good Star Trek game, you'd need to give it to the chaps who did Mass Effect.
Yawn!
No thanks. Don't care for the whole reboot crap.
I'd have prefered if they did something single player with the ST universe as it is in STO (which I assume is the canon state of the ST universe).
I.e. with Sela as Romulan empress and all that.
Really don't get this ridiculous need to go back to Kirk/Spock.
I guess it's Hollywood syndrome, where they just can't think up new settings/characters.
Could this be the fabled Star Trek Game That Doesn't Suck spoken of in the prophecies? Only time will tell...
@ Shin - you mean, Bridge Commander? It was released years ago lol
