Capcom Announces Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 to The Surprise of No One

Featuring 12 new playable characters, 8 new stages, and a 'refined' fighting system, the game will see release in November just in time for the holiday shopping rush.

Honestly though is anyone surprised by this announcement? It follows the standard Capcom fighting game cycle: Release game. Re-release game with new characters and features.

I can only hopeI'm sure Gamespot will allow trade-in deals for the suckers people who bought MVC3 upon its initial release, as they've done in the past for Super Street Fighter 4.

Under the cut we've got the full list of new characters and more gameplay videos.

New Characters:

Capcom
Strider
Firebrand
Vergil
daddyFrank West
Phoenix Wright
Nemesis

Marvel
Ghost Rider
Dr. Strange
Nova
Rocket Raccoon omg
Hawkeye
Iron Fist

There's a notable lack of new female characters but that isn't nearly as offensive as the lack of a certain blue helmet wearing lad.

Seriously Capcom? No Megaman? Seriously? I mean we've all got our favorites, I for one would kill to see Jubilee, Servbot, Alex, and Ms. Lion of the Pet Avengers all show up but for Capcom's number one mascot to still be missing from their mascot fighter? Something's fishy.

But until that particular mystery is solved here's some gameplay. I'm quite the fan of Hawkeye's Ant-Man special.

Our friends at Joystiq happen to have screenshots screenshots of all twelve new characters.

What do you gays think? Are you enticed? Will you be (re)purchasing Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 for $39.99 this November? I'm only here for Rocket Racoon and Frank West tbqh

I'm disappointed by the new characters and surprised that none of them are female.

I'll probably get it once the price drops to about $20,
unless they announce another new version.

I actually like those new characters (though Capcom's more than Marvel's), but I won't be buying it on release.
I'm not paying full price for a game I already have with a few extra characters added.
Mind you, I didn't pay full price on MvC3 either.

I still would love to see a Young Avenger in a videogame. Was hoping for one in Ultimate Alliance 2, but that was a no-go and none in MvC3 either.
They could've easily given us Wiccan instead of Dr. Strange or Kate Bishop instead of Clint Barton.

If I can't afford to purchase this installment day one I'm going to Hulk smash all over the place. This was the game that was supposed to be released day one, not the glorified beta we payed full price for. Yes it seems to become the fighting game norm, but Man what a disappointment.

It's because of this I didn't buy FFXIII day one, and I'm not gong to for Twisted metal. I'll wait it out a few months and see what happens, cause I keep getting burned by the industry.

I can only dream that by "refined fighting system" they mean "we realized the Tatsunoko vs Capcom button setup sucks and we're putting the real MvC button setup back in, sorry about that guys", but I'm really not holding my breath for that...

I'm also extremely disappointed by lack of new females, especially from Marvel. They only had 4 in the original version. v_v
Should have been ecstatic about Phoenix Wright getting in but now I'm just feeling sick.

No. Just no. I would understand some DLC's but a whole freakin game? No thank you.

actually, I think this post is pretty much on point. This buyer's getting pretty weary of the slight modifying of content and calling it a brand new game. Its one thing to offer DLC, but ...why not just put out a game thats actually complete instead of calling it the "Ultimate" version?

Also? No Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Emma Frost or hell, Psylocke? Boo. Though, I do heart Hawkeye more all the time.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
