Warner Bros. has announced a Collector's Edition of the upcoming Lord of the Rings: War in the North that will be available alongside the regular edition when it launches on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall.
The Collector's Edition will include a Ranger of the North Quiver Case, an art book featuring concept art of characters, enemies and environments, and a documentary about the game's composer and soundtrack including three tracks from the soundtrack. It will also include a Ranger of the North Avatar for Xbox LIVE and a War in the North Theme Pack for PS3. Oh, and they'll also throw in the game. It's a bit pricey at $129.99, but that quiver is pretty awesome. You can use it when you go LARPing!
In addition, the standard edition has some pre-order incentives depending on where you reserve your copy. Amazon.com is offering up early access to part two of the DC Comics digital comic tie-in and the Orc Champion sword for in-game use. Best Buy has the Elf Theme Pack, which includes an Elven sword, armor and helmet, plus the Lothlorien Challenge map. GameStop is offering the Human Theme Pack, with an exclusive human sword, armor and battle attire of the Human Ranger, as well as the Osgiliath Challenge map. Target is only giving three exclusive tracks from the game's soundtrack. Toys 'R' Us will provide a signed, limited edition War in the North poster by Jim Lee and acess to both parts one and two of the War in the North digital comic at launch. And finally, Wal-Mart is offering the Dwarf Theme Pack which includes an exclusive dwarf sword, armor and helmet.
So I guess it depends on whether you have a specific race you want to play as, or if you care more about the soundtrack or the tie-in comic book. Personally, I'd probably go with the Toys 'R' Us one, because the comic might be good, and the weapons, armor and maps will likely be released later on as DLC you can just buy separately.
