You Know How Super Excited You Are For Megaman Legends 3?

Well you can stop that.

Via Capcom Unity:

We'd like to thank you for your ongoing loyal support of Mega Man Legends 3. Today, however, we must regrettably announce the discontinuation of this project.

From the outset the MML3 Project was intended to give gamers across the world insight and input into the development process. Part of this process includes an assessment of whether the title will go into full production, and is based on a number of criteria with input from different sectors of the company.

Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria, and it is with regret that we must announce that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project has been cancelled, meaning that Capcom will not be releasing the Prototype or the full game. Additionally, updates of the Mega Man Legends Developer Room will cease as of today, though the North American Developer Room and its forums will remain open indefinitely.

We can only express our deepest apologies to all of you who have lent us your unending support, including participation in the Mega Man Legends 3 Developer Room. On behalf of the entire Legends team, please accept our sincere apology for failing to meet the expectations of the fans.

We thank you all so much for your extended support of this title and this community, and we hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise as well as other Capcom games.

Just...-sigh-

The Blue Bomber just can't seem to catch a break these days. Despite being one of the closest things Capcom has to a Mario he's having a...less than stellar year.

Back in October Keiji Inafune, Megaman's creator, left Capcom and started a new company, leaving his fellow Megaman developers to fend for themselves.

Megaman Universe, the next major installment in the franchise, was canceled shortly after Inafune's departure.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 managed to include obscure characters like muscle daddy Mike Haggar and Hsien Ko but not Capcom poster boy Megaman. There was a Megaman Legends themed level, Tron Bonne was playable as was longtime Megaman ally Zero but Megaman himself was nowhere to be seen.

And now this.

The one thing Megaman fans, and Megaman Legends cult followers no less, had to look forward to is being canned. Time to live vicariously through the one teaser trailer we got.

No words exist that can describe the magnitude of my disappointment, sadness, and anger at this moment. It was bad enough when I heard about MegaMan Universe being canceled. Capcom might as well just call themselves "The Resident Evil Company"

Well. From here on out, Capcom doesn't get a dollar from me. I've had enough of them. From crappy games like Dark Void, to stunts like Mercenaries. Now this. Done, done, and done. If I'm even remotely interested in another Capcom game, I'll be picking it up used.

My feelings towards Capcom: MAY THE RATS EAT YOUR EYES! I AM NOW LOST TO YOUR CAUSE! THE DARKNESS COMES! IT WILL DAMN US ALL!!

Yeah, this sucks in a big way.

It would have been one thing if there wasn't so much hype for this. From the start, they got everybody excited and involved. When has there been a game where they got so much fan-feedback to develop? It was like this big tease, and then, this?

Not cool, not cool at all. Capcom seems to keep doing this, and you know the saying. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.". I'm not being fooled again, Capcom...no thanks...bastards.

The 'pay for a demo of a game that may not even come out' tidbit really was the nail in this project's behind.

Tis sucks for you MM fans, but let's be honest, other than MMIX and MMX the series hasn't been noteworthy since the NES/SNES eras...

The Legends series was more than noteworthy. It was one of the best titles to have come out in it's time.

You know MML 3 was one of the reasons I decided on a 3DS. Aside from the PS3 hack. And the fact that's fits better into my pocket than the PSP. And the 3D camera.
But yeah. That sucks.
Capcom, this aint cool and we aint cool.

What, what, what???? WTF I thought the game was well into development and now they're cancelling it??! Wow this really makes me hate capcom even more if it weren't for RE: Revelations I'd be done with the company.

This is indeed sad news from a long time MegaMan fan. Capcom has just failed over and over again since X5 to release something that is not only innovative but fun to play. X7 and 8 were duds. Command Mission was released with a wimper and forcing you to play as a new character instead of the Blue Bomber himself..

What does the company have left? Are we seeing the end of an era?

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
