Sony Drops Price Of PS3

Money.
It goes by many names: cash, greenbacks, scrilla -- or as the kids in my neck of the woods call it, "Mone$ix." The pursuit of it drives great minds to achieve monumental things, and the love of it is what separates us from those d*mn, dirty Reds.
Occasionally, though, it is used for the much more banal task of "buying things." Less frequently, but not insignificantly, these things include consoles. For those who have been hesitant about purchasing a PS3, the internet brings some encouraging words from Jack Tretton, SCEA's President, CEO, and part-time "mean girl" in a man-suit: The console is getting a $50 price drop, effective immediately. This means that the 160GB model will run you $249, while the more endowed 320GB model will cost $299. For those looking for a game to go with that shiny new beast, "a limited edition inFAMOUS 2 bundle is now available at participating retailers across North America. In addition to the game, those who purchase the bundle will be given a 30 day trial of Playstation Plus.
Those who are curious about the Plus service, or those who simply never checked it out, can head over to Sony's rundown of Plus. In short, it allows for early (and sometimes exclusive) access to betas and demos, some free games, automatic game updates, trophy sync, and discounts on select titles.
So does the price drop affect your decision to get a PS3? Sound off in the comments section below!

Cool. I was planning on getting one.
Now I'll just be paying $50 less.
The whole price drop thing seems to be "in" right now. Just read that the Wii and PSP are also going to get price drops -- though those will come at the expense of features (more will be explained after i post tonight).
How does one pronounce "Mone$ix"? Mun-uh-six? Muh-nee-six? Moh-neh-dah-ler-sine-ix?
I was waiting for the PS3 to drop to $200 before getting one. But with the drop to $250, I realize that won't happen for a long time. tl;dr I ordered a PS3 and a copy of Heavy Rain this morning.
I would "upgrade" my 60Gb noisy sandwich maker but without backward compatibility its a step back :( bring back backwardsness... its the way forward!!!
when I had to replace my PS3 because repair would have run me out $150, I spent $300 to get the Call of Duty pack. I got a free copy of a game I'd never play to sell on ebay, the new slimline PS3, AND a $50 gift card. I like to think I just got the price drop a little earlier than Sony had planned on. >.>
@CPFace: The proper pronunciation is "Mone$ix," or at least that's the sound that what i mumbled after reading aloud the inside-joke-turned-impending-cultural-phenomenon.
