Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike: Online Edition DLC Teased

So Derek Neal, producer for Street Fighter III Third Strike: Online Edition, has revealed some of the upcoming DLC for the game. On September 6 or 7, you can expect to see "Color Pack 1", which will offer seven new colors for each character i the game. The colors are available in nearly all the modes, but if you're playing against someone without the DLC, they won't see the pretty new colors. (They also won't save in replay files, so FYI.) It's up to you to decide whether or not new color palletes are worth $2.99.

Then, in the next month or so, there will be more DLC, like music packs that add character themes from the first two Street Fighter III games. Then there will be Match Packs, which will contain over an hour of content from the Fight For the Future 2011 tournament held at the Capcom offices this year where 16 expert SF3 players from around the world kicked each others' asses. The first Match Pack will cover the entire top eight of the tournament, and the second will be a "best of" compilation of the matches. No date or price on those, yet, though!

I played the demo of this game and while it was fun, I must say that the music that plays in the title screen, menus and character selection is really horrible. I wish they had gone with something else, or given the option to switch just that music off while leaving the battle music on because the battle music actually isn't bad.

In the full game you can unlock the original menu / character select music and opt to have them play instead of the new stuff. I wish there was an option to boot up with the original intro and a character select screen without that less than appealing new art.

The New Generation and Second Impact music will have to be mine. The colors, eh...unless there are some colors in there that I just HAVE to have for a specific character, I'll pass. Ditto the replays.
What I really want is the NG and SI backgrounds as DLC. I always thought the weakest part of 3S was the "shared backgrounds" and some of the stages in SI were fantastic (Hugo's stage, anyone?).
Overall though I've been very happy with 3S:OE, if only so that now I have a *good* Street Fighter game to play online...

This game has my full attention at the moment! Being able to play with 3S mechanics again is pretty awesome so unless the DLC addresses some balancing issues I will be very happy with what I've already got!
