Well, you knew it was coming. But honestly, I figured Nintendo would save it for Christmas. But in keeping with their habit of releasing awesome new color schemes for their systems after I've already got one, September 9 will see the launch of the new Flame Red 3DS system (coinciding with the release of Star Fox 64 3D)!
I know that by the time I traded in my DS Phat for a DS Lite, there were other colors, and I was immediately drawn to the red/black one. I wonder how long before they do a pink one? They always do a pink one.
In addition to announcing the new color model of 3DS and reminding of the system's price drop this Friday, the press release also had a quote from Laurent Detoc, President, North America, Ubisoft, assuring 3DS owners (and potential 3DS purchasers) that they're one third-party developer that's supporting the fledgling handheld. "Ubisoft has been a big supporter of Nintendo 3DS since the beginning with eight Nintendo 3DS games released to date," he says, "and another eight games coming out before the end of calendar year 2011." Hopefully the other third-party developers feel the same!
They also gave slightly more targeted release dates for a couple highly-anticipated 3DS games. Super Mario 3D Land will be out in November, and Mario Kart 7 will hit in December. Unfortunately, still no word on when we will all be able to enjoy Luigi's Mansion 2, which is the one game I'm really dying for, here.
