"Kart Driver": The Best Nine Minutes You'll Spend All Day

Video game homages tend to be a rather underwhelming affair, whether it's poor writing, low production values, shoddy acting, or the like. After all, video game fandom isn't exactly hot property for aspiring filmmakers. Videos such as Portal: No Escape are notable exceptions, but on the whole, the effort usually ends up falling rather flat. Flying in the face of this rather bothersome trend is "Kart Driver," which fancies itself (the hint is in the title) a sort of cross between Taxi Driver and Mario - though oddly enough, the brief storyline has little at all to do with MarioKart.

Overall, the video is wonderfully clever. Following the story of everyone's favorite favorite Italian plumber (by default), Kart Driver's ludicrous dialogue with deadpan delivery, injecting elements from the Mario universe wihout interrupting the flow. I'll leave it at that and let you get to the multimedia chucklefest that is Kart Driver. Though as a closing thought: yes, the video does make Donkey Kong look like the Luciferian lovechild of Baracka and a humanzee - his body covered with sores from irradiated sludge that served as a sort of improvised birthing pool. Furthermore, however silly his look may be, it beats a man dressed in a gorilla suit.
