Watch Persona 4 The Animation Now (If You're In The US)

As promised, Persona 4: The Animation has started up, and Sentai Filmworks, along with The Anime Network and Hulu are simulcasting it for Americans just hours after it airs on Japanese TV. It looks to be a pretty faithful adaption of the game, well, as faithful as you can get considering how much player choice affected the experience. Plus the main character talks! Madness. The first episode's been getting mostly positive notes from what I've seen, but you'll have to judge for yourself. It's not going to shatter genre conventions, but for a cartoon where magical teenagers summon demons to fight giant monsters, it's got its charms.

I believe the video above is geolocked to the US, but separate companies are streaming it in the UK and France. Canadians, check out The Anime Network's website directly if the video above doesn't work.

The main character talks, yeah... but he still has no personality.

It certainly has better shading and less bubblegum pop color than the moe blob shows littering the Japanese airwaves these days.

Loved the first episode, can't wait for the next one! I love all the little game related touches, like the sliding calendar and the "stats" screen shown for the ad break ;) And I also love how all the music is used as well with, with some of it "updated" for the anime.

Thank you for posting this news! I haven't played any of the Persona games, but I watched my ex play Persona 3, and it looked like a lot of fun. Also, I've been meaning to watch a new anime after I watched all of Season 1 of Nana on Netflix, so this is great! Looking forward to watching this tomorrow. :D

I know it's better to support the official streams for these, but you're interested in having subs that stick to the localized English (i.e. "Trial of the Dragon" instead of "Legend of Seiryu" and the localized Junes jingle instead of the JP version) then Commie subs is the one to go to.

Just putting that out there...

Agreed.

I haven't been interested in anime in years, but damn, lately it looks like everything is either ghibli style or super moeblob.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
