With Minecon 2011 just a few days away (and having sold out since October, dammit), the folks at Hat Films and Mojang have released another in the long string of clever trailers that Minecraft has been known for - this one from September of 2010 has probably sold so many accounts that Mojang should be paying finders fees. Filled with lots of references fans will appreciate - from the perennial "is using TNT really a good idea" debate, to a Where's Waldo-style appearance by Herobrine - a parade of some of the best fan-made character skins out there (check out the DJ wearing a red version of my favourite Link outfit), and an obligatory creeper attack, the trailer makes me wish I'd gotten off my ass and scored some tickets...except that Las Vegas is almost 4000 kilomtetres away...
In what may be even cooler news for fans of sleeping Cthulu and ghosts n' stuff, legendary electro producer deadmau5 will be playing Minecon 2011, which makes me even more pissed off that I didn't score some tickets to the event. Seeing as he's from Toronto, too, maybe we coulda carpooled or something. I dunno. Anyway, there's no confirmation yet, but don't be surprised if deadmau5 immolates everyone at Minecon 2011 with some surprise lava.
P.S. In a not-really-gaming-related deadmau5 sidenote: Check out this nine year-old's light-up deadmau5 Halloween costume. I thought I had cool costumes when I was a kid, but this kills the Hannibal Lecter get-up I bamboozled my mom into letting me wear when I was 11. (If you click, make sure to watch the video.)
