And speaking of charities, Activision has gotten into the spirit of the giving season by setting up a donation campaign for their organization to help veterans, the Call of Duty Endowment. From now through December 16th, purchasing any Modern Warfare 3 Xbox Live avatar stuff will donate the proceeds to the charity fund.
The Call of Duty Endowment aims to help veterans transition from their military lives back into civilian life once their tours have ended. As studies have shown, finding work and suitable living options can be extremely difficult for people freshly out of military service (the current unemployment rate for discharged veterans stands at about 21.9%). The CoD Endowment attemts to rectify that problem through job training and placement programs that help veterans translate their prior career experience into something useful for non-military employers. This Xbox Live donation campaign is the latest in a series of donation events Activision has created for the charity, including last Labor Day's massive Call of Duty Xp weekend in L.A., which donated all ticket profits to the fund.
With a brand new Xbox dashboard set to hit 360s tomorrow, wouldn't a fresh change of scenery be good for your avatar? And with MW3 out there devouring any bits of time gamers hadn't dedicated to Skyrim, certainly someone wants to deck out their virtual doppleganger and show our veterans some love.
