In the past, you could spend your Club Nintendo points on all kinds of swag, but games were few and far between. But now that downloadable games are all the rage, Nintendo is finally stepping up and offering Wii and 3DS games as rewards!
The Club Nintendo site has been revamped, and with the renovations come new rewards. There's Nintendo-themed notebooks and pen cases, as well as Zelda 25th Anniversary posters, but the cool thing is the games.
For the Wii, you can get Super Mario Kart for 100 coins, or Fluidity for 150 coins, instead of paying the 800 or 1200 Wii Points. A hundred coins will also net you 3D Classics: Xevious, and one-fifty will get you Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! from the eShop for your 3DS. (Instead of the $5.99 or $7.99 prices in the store.)
Redeeming your coins will get you a Wii download ticket so you can download your reward from the Wii Shop Channel, or a code you can use to download the game from the Nintendo eShop on your 3DS.
There is a slight catch, however: These games will only be offered as rewards until January 10, 2012, after which new games will be announced. Nintendo says that they will be selecting the reward titles based on members' feedback, so you might see almost anything, but it should be popular or critically acclaimed. So make sure you collect those coins and spend them before the deadline. (I'm going right now to get my code for Minis March Again!) I'll make sure to let you know in January when the new games are announced!
