Club Nintendo Adds New Games As Rewards!

clubnintendorewards.jpg

In the past, you could spend your Club Nintendo points on all kinds of swag, but games were few and far between. But now that downloadable games are all the rage, Nintendo is finally stepping up and offering Wii and 3DS games as rewards!

The Club Nintendo site has been revamped, and with the renovations come new rewards. There's Nintendo-themed notebooks and pen cases, as well as Zelda 25th Anniversary posters, but the cool thing is the games.

For the Wii, you can get Super Mario Kart for 100 coins, or Fluidity for 150 coins, instead of paying the 800 or 1200 Wii Points. A hundred coins will also net you 3D Classics: Xevious, and one-fifty will get you Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again! from the eShop for your 3DS. (Instead of the $5.99 or $7.99 prices in the store.)

Redeeming your coins will get you a Wii download ticket so you can download your reward from the Wii Shop Channel, or a code you can use to download the game from the Nintendo eShop on your 3DS.

There is a slight catch, however: These games will only be offered as rewards until January 10, 2012, after which new games will be announced. Nintendo says that they will be selecting the reward titles based on members' feedback, so you might see almost anything, but it should be popular or critically acclaimed. So make sure you collect those coins and spend them before the deadline. (I'm going right now to get my code for Minis March Again!) I'll make sure to let you know in January when the new games are announced!

I don't know about anyone else but I love this idea. I wish they were offering things like Mario Kart for the 3DS, but I never tried Fluidity even though I heard it was good. I'm going to give that a shot, I think.

Also, if you've never played Mario vs. Donkey Kong, I really recommend you get it, that game is brilliant.

I redeemed for Fluidity.

I don't want to say I'm the reason... but I wrote a letter to Nintendo about 6 months ago, asking that they offer games (for the DS & Wii) in their Club Nintendo rewards. I also complained about the lack of 'cool' merchandise in the American catalog, compared to Japan. Not saying that my letter caused this, just coincidence. Very happy with the new rewards. I would love it if Zelda: Link to the Past was redeemable in the next wave of games in January.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
