LEGO Batman 2 Gets Some New Super Friends

Just when you start to think you've heard quite enough about this Batman business, you realize how absurd that is and slap yourself. Fans of LEGO Batman got a bit of surprise today when accidental confirmation of LEGO Batman 2 came featuring Superman and Wonderwoman in tow. Of course, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has yet to officially confirm their presence, but printed advertisements stuck inside a line of LEGO Super Hero toys tend to do that job pretty well. Oops.
The ad clearly shows Superman and Wonderwoman in the artwork and promises that the game will drop on Wii, 3DS, 360, and Sony formats. (Not sure why they couldn't just say PS3 and Vita, but whatever.) Other new LEGO toy sets to be released in 2012 include the aforementioned Superman and Wonderwoman, but also Green Lantern, Lex Luthor, and The Joker. Their appearences in the game remain in the "strongly speculated, but unproven" stage.
However, it should be noted that a line of Marvel toys will also be arriving in 2012 to coincide with The Avengers hitting movie theaters. Does that mean gamers will finally get a chance to bust plastic skulls as Captain America and Iron Man in a LEGO Avengers game at some point? Probably just fanboy hope, but we can always pray to the plastic gods.
