Looks like Black Friday was good to Nintendo, as they've just released some sales figures that seem to indicate a nice upswing for the initially troubled 3DS system. The 3D handheld has surpassed the first-year totals of the original Nintendo DS system (2.37 million) with total sales of 2.5 million in the eight months since its launch. The 3DS also experienced its biggest single month of sales, with an increase of over 215% over the previous month. And Super Mario 3D Land has sold more than 625,000 units, making it the fastest-selling portable Super Mario title in US history. Of course, I don't know exactly what constitutes a Super Mario title, and as they say, that's only among handheld games.
If you're curious, Skyward Sword did alright for itself, too, moving over 600,000 units in its first week, with the biggest first day in the franchise's history. See what happens when you make us wait so long? Oh, and apparently there are still some people out there who don't already own a Wii, since that system had its biggest Black Friday ever, selling over 520,000 units. Seriously? Does this mean everyone's got one now? It's crazy!
Oh, and also, if the guys in that picture want to exchange 3DS Friend Codes, my E-mail link is off to the left of the page, there!
