Video: Wootini's Video Podcast #52

Hey, guess what! I played something other than Skyrim this week! You'll have to watch to find out what, though. And I muse about which kind of DLC I prefer and why, as well as offer you a recommendation of a book to check out and a movie to avoid! What more could you ask for?

I ended up keeping Frost (a horse through a somewhat convoluted Riften quest), and can't really give you a good reason for having a horse. If he were just like a follower and couldn't really be killed by people, that'd be one thing. Unfortunately that is not the case though - when entering any kind of engagement, Frost is always targeted first, and often he runs off to help in the battle. Which is sweet, but terribly, terribly misguided when he is killed.

I've read that Shadowmere, the horse you get along the Dark Brotherhood quest, is the best horse in the game by far. But I really have no interest in that line of quests, so I won't end up with him.

Stick to running, and if you want someone to carry more things - pick up a follower. They can only be truly killed if you're the one to land the finishing strike. And they can be helpful if they complement your style of play.

Oh, and the game does level up with you, but only to a point. And by the time you're level 46 (like I am), you'll be happy to be nearly killed by Dremora sometimes to even out when you're killing multiple Bandits with Chain Lightning. So Frost Trolls will only ever be as hard as they can be, but they'll never be as difficult as an Ancient Dragon or anything. There are caps on everything.

I don't like 40 Year Old Virgin either... I don't get it. Haven't seen Bride's Maids either but the trailer looks awful.

The only purpose of the horse is to part you with 5000 Septims! I bought mine as soon as I could afford one and wished I'd saved my money for other things.

The number of times I would successfully complete a major battle, then turn around and see my horse laying dead on the floor. The final straw was when my horse disappeared during a battle, then when I next fast-travelled the horse appeared with me - DEAD!!!

And when you come across a stray horse (you sometimes find them wandering close to an ambushed cart) why can't you claim it for your own? You can still get on it and ride it, but it disappears when you leave it.

I'm level 47 now and quests are becoming thin on the ground. I'm starting to tire of the repeaters (Companions, Thieves Guild etc. ) and none of them feel very challenging any more - I just sit back and let my Conjured Dremora Lord and Husband do the hard work! (He even cooks tea after) xD

I really hate the horses. They suck! when I fast travel he appears and then starts attacking everything in sight. Its really uncomfortable if you are trying to make a first impression.
