Kid Icarus: The Tournament

kidicarusart.jpg

To promote the upcoming Nintendo 3DS game Kid Icarus: Uprising, Nintendo is organizing a tournament to be held at GameStops across the US starting on March 8 and climaxing at a national championship event in New York on Thursday, March 22. The game comes out on March 23, but if you attend the final round of the tournament at the GameStop on Broadyway and 84th, you'll be able to take advantage of a pre-sale opportunity to get the game a day ahead of everyone else in the country!

The bracket-style tournament will be held at select GameStop locations in San Francisco (March 8), Orlando (March 11), Los Angeles (March 15) and New York (March 22). Winners from each of the four markets will be eligible to win prizes including an all-expenses-paid trip to New York to participate in the national championship. Although I guess if you're competing in the New York round, you probably won't be up for the trip to the Big Apple!

Oh, and if you don't actually feel like your skills are strong enough to compete in the tournament yourself, you could still swing by the participating GameStop locations because you can demo Kid Icarus: Uprising before it comes out!

Umm, what do you have to do in the tournament?

Yeah, the press release didn't really go into details about it, but I would assume that you would play some of the competitive multiplayer modes. You'd think it would be an even playing field because nobody's played the game yet, but you just know there's gonna be some gaming expert who picks up the controls in an instant and wipes the floor with everyone else...

I am so happy they got him out of the mothballs, I always found the little cupid sooo adorable :). My favourite character in Brawl, and when getting the powerup to become larger, actually quite handsome :).

Sigh... when the 3DS becomes cheaper or the 3DS Lite is released (if ever, but like with 2 analogue pads or something). I am so getting that game :).

And I'm really happy Nintendo is actively marketing Pit, the guy deserves the attention! I wonder how such a tournament would go though? What rules apply?

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
