Sega *Almost* Announces Jet Set Radio For XBLA And PSN
Fans of cel-shading and thumping beats got quite the treat today when Sega put a sneaky little trailer onto their blog hinting at the next Dreamcast port to arrive on Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. The video lands on the tenth anniversary of Jet Set Radio Future and blurts out an enigmatic "guess who's back" before dashing away.
So, yeah, we're all going to get a chance to play the fantastic Jet Set Radio again.
For anyone who missed the skate punk game the first time it came around, Jet Set Radio stars a cast of runaway teenagers fighting against a culture of oppression and conformity. Collectively known as the "rudies," they form into gangs across Tokyo and spray paint their tags while fleeing the aggressive police under the control of Captain Onishima. And of course, the soundtrack comes courtesy of pirate radio DJ, Professor K.
Responsible for the wave of cel-shading that engulfed video games back in the early 00s, Jet Set Radio was criminally ignored in 2000. Thankfully, SEGA will soon pluck this gem from cult favorite obscurity and drop it into modern day obscurity where it belongs, unfortunately without a release date at the moment.

bout fuggin time!
Sega had a crap load of awesome games both first, and third party on the dreamcast. It was a shame what happened to them that led to them dropping out of the console race. The pros, and cons of the dreamcast were enough to at least keep up with nintendo, but only flopped because of piracy.
*wipes up the splooge*
yay theyre re-releasing it, but how about making a NEW one? jet set future was pathetic by comparison
Any idea if it will be called Jet Set Radio when released?
I remember when it came out for the Dreamcast I had the Japanese version. I was sad when the American/Western version came out and was re-branded with the word "grind" due to the popularity of Tony Hawk games at the time. I know marketing is marketing...
as much as I would love to see a new Jet Set Radio game, Sega's track record on software leaves me feeling like maybe they should just continue to leave well enough alone....
This is bringing tears to my eyes. That game taught me everything I know about ripping straightforward games from their rails. (pun intended) The possibilities in JSF for parkouring around those boards are just awe-inspiring.
