Nintendo had already announced that there would be some special AR Cards included in the 3DS game Kid Icarus: Uprising, but it turns out there's going to be oh, so many more than that! The AR Cards will feature various characters, enemies, bosses, weapons and items from the game, and when viewed with the game, will unlock the corresponding Idol. But now Nintendo is saying there are hundreds of cards to collect at a whole lot of places (while supplies last, naturally!):
Included with every copy of Kid Icarus: Uprising will be six randomly chosen AR Cards from a set of 20 possible ones.
Club Nintendo members can visit the Kid Icarus: Uprising website and receive the Great Reaper, Palutena and Drill Arm cards absolutely free. And if you're not a Club Nintendo member, you can easily sign up to get them (as well as other great swag).
By taking part in special Kid Icarus: Uprising gameplay sessions at select GameStop locations on April 14 from 1-4pm, you can receive five AR Cards including Eggplant Wizard, Skyscraper Club, Fireworks Cannon, Minos and the Fiend's Cauldron. And if you buy your copy of the game on launch day (March 23) at Nintendo World in NYC, you'll get the Three Sacred Treasures AR Card as a special gift!
A selection of AR Cards will also be available in several magazines. The April issue of Game Informer will contain the Power of Flight card. The same month, Nintendo Power will feature a three pack of Poseidon, Thanatos - God of Death and Medusa (Battle). Best Buy's in-store mag, @Gamer, will offer Pit, Pandora - The Goddess of Calamity and Samurai Blade in its April ish.
Random AR Cards will also be distributed at upcoming events. At WonderCon (March 16-18, Anaheim, CA) and PAX East (April 6-8, Boston), special AR Card packs will be available at the Nintendo Booth. Also, Nintendo is hosting that Kid Icarus: Uprising tournament at various GameStop locations, and special AR Card packs will be available there, too!
Now, I honestly don't see how any one person can collect all the available cards, but I'm sure that won't stop some people from trying! (And the rest of them from finding scans of the cards online that they can download and print out themselves!)
