I know plenty of people who are champing at the bit to be able to play Diablo III on May 15, and Blizzard has just announced some special launch events for the ridiculously-highly-anticipated action-RPG to be held all around the world. On the night of May 14, retailers in the US, UK, France, Germany Sweden, Poland, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan will welcome gamers who want to be the first to play.
In the US, the official Blizzard-hosted launch event will be at the GameStop at the Great Wheel Court of the Irvine Spectrum Mall in Irvine, CA. Festivities will begin at 8pm PDT on May 14. Attendees will enjoy giveaways, Diablo videos, contests with Diablo III prizes (like laser-etched desktop PC's from Intel!) and autographs and Q&A's with members of the Diablo III development team!
Other stores across the country will be opening at midnight for people who simply cannot wait another second to play Diablo III, so check with your local shop to see if they'll be one of them. For those of you not in the US, more information on the global launch events can be found here.
Also, if you already play World of Warcraft, you can actually receive a free digital copy of Diablo III if you sign up for the World of Warcraft Annual Pass. Just promise you'll play WoW for a year, and you can also play Diablo III for no charge! Bonus! You'll also get an exclusive in-game WoW mount and access to the Mists of Pandaria beta test. But you've only got until May 1 to sign up for it. More information here.
And if you're a true die-hard Diablo fan, you can also opt for the $100 collector's edition which contains exclusive aesthetic artifacts for Diablo III, a WoW in-game fetish shaman, StarCraft II Battle.net portraits and army decal, a two-disc behind-the-scenes Blu-ray/DVD set, the 208 page Art of Diablo III book, the 24-track Diablo III soundtrack CD, and a 4GB soulstone preloaded with full versions of Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (with a Diablo skull base!).
