Video: Wootini's Video Podcast #66
So, after ruminating on the Mass Effect 3 ending for a week... yeah, still not happy. But it's okay, because I have an awesome new game to talk about though I save most of my opinions for the review! Oh, and I'm not entirely sold on Xenoblade Chronicles... though I've only just started. We'll see. Jury's still out on that one.

I'm liking Xenoblade for the most part, but I don't know if blame lies with the software itself or the cheap-feeling Controller Pro, but the entire game feels very loose, like it only acts on your commands when it feels like it despite the number of your presses or the confirmation sounds it plays.
The characters are a scootch bland, but are refreshingly not whiny, angsty, or unrealistically stupid like so many JRPG casts have been before them.
The story could stand to be darker though. It sets up for it in the first three hours, but it wears off somewhere between Bionis' Leg and recruiting a middle-aged mascot character. You get snippets of foreboding, shadowy goings-on part-way through that are very evocative of shades of Xenosaga, but they only last a few seconds each and stand in contrast to the color and optimistic tone of the rest of the game. It's almost enough to make me want to play Xenosaga II, with all its flaws, instead.
In regards to Mass Effect 3 ending, I did have that problem of characters being out of place. But, also, plus, without being too spoiler-ish, where were those characters headed in that final cutscene anyway?! You are correct though, I need a follow up to every character I came to know in the game. Maybe that's a tall order, but something as simple as Dragon Age: Origins final scenes with text about your companions would suffice.
On an unrelated note, I enjoy the scruffy facial hair in this video, very sexy.
