The New 3DS Is Fit For A Queen!
Those of us who jump on board the new Nintendo hardware at release will often get a choice of one or two colors to pick from, but anyone who takes their time and waits to pick it up not only sometimes gets to take advantage of a price drop, but also the rainbow of colors that Nintendo will eventually add to the system's repertoire.
Starting May 20, Nintendo will offer their 3DS handheld in the very royal purple shade called Midnight Purple. You can still get it in the original Cosmo Black and Aqua Blue, but I personally still prefer my Flame Red color scheme. It's hot!
But if you're feeling particularly fabulous (and I know a few of my friends are already torn between these choices), you can now opt for the Pearl Pink or Midnight Purple. Glorious! What's next?

I would just die if I could get one of the latest handhelds in a shade of dark green, brown, pink, or purple!
But, I sold my launch 3DS within a week of buying it for good reason: The controls are awful. Too tight, too squeaky with metallic paint, a tiny d-pad, an out-of-the-way stylus, a second analog add-on, it goes on. Forget it, I'll wait until Nintendo rolls out its inevitable, intentional, planned obsolescence second-tier "no really, that last 3DS is balls no matter what we said otherwise" 3DS-SP model. Sure hope it launches in something refreshingly offbeat like "Mint Green" and not another generic "Grime-Catching White".

So jealous of you USers, I wanted the Pimp GC/Purple for the UK launch!
... Shame the Wii U is sticking to the boring, sterile white scheme too [why not Wii U Blue or GC Purple, Nintendo?].
I really want to get one of these, but I just can't justify a handheld gaming machine.Does that mean I lose my gamer creds?

Since writing my comment I have been considering getting a 3DS. Are there any great games? Or should I wait? I'd hate to have buyers remorse...Especially if I play it for a little while and then it sits on my desk for months.
There are a lot of great games for the 3DS. It's a little light on RPGs, but there were a couple that just came out recently to pick up the slack. I would suggest checking out the shelf at a game store or Best Buy or whatever and seeing if there's anything that piques your interest. If there's only one or two that you would consider buying, then wait until there are more. If, however, there are a whole bunch, you'll feel way more comfortable dropping the cash. (or credit card, more likely!)
You're right Wootini there are some pretty great games already out. I counted at least half a dozen I want to play. Resident Evil Revelations and Kingdom Hearts 3D stood out the most. I'll be buying one after these new colors are released. Instead of getting it in boring black I'm thinking about being a little adventurous and getting either the aqua blue or midnight purple. I don't know about the latter being "fabulous", but something about it certainly says "pimp".
