Guild Wars 2 Gets Release Date
Having thoroughly vanquished the very idea of my beard - casting it into the garbage that which lies beyond this world, a mix of spite and triumph in my heart - I have given up on the MMO. Nonetheless, many of my beard-friendly peers sing its praises: forever pursuing the next quest, looting, and grinding, like some kind of manic Captain Ahab chasing their respective White Whales. For those in said camp, the silhouette of Guild Wars 2 lies just beyond the port bow, obscured by mist, and tempting man's inherent desire to conquer.
Thankfully, said conquest is at hand, as the game has been given a release date of August 28th. From Arenanet:
This is an incredibly momentous day for the studio and for me personally. This journey began in 2007 when we first announced that we were beginning work on Guild Wars 2 and that you wouldn't be hearing from us for a while. Then in 2010 we unveiled our manifesto for Guild Wars 2: a living breathing online world that challenges convention, that's designed for fun instead of grind, and that brings social interaction to a new level in an online world. [...] Now that we're just two months away from launch, we'll spend our remaining time optimizing, polishing, and balancing the game, to ensure that we provide you with the best launch-day experience we possibly can.
For those that pre-purchased a copy of the game, Arenanet's Mike O'Brien has announced that the final beta weekend will take place July 20-22nd.

I will definitely be in Guild Wars 2. I am eagerly looking forward to it. If anyone wants to look me up Blazing Beau will one of avatars. Friend me.
